On this last image, I used a split-tone action at 30% by Totally Rad Actions after I converted to B&W using the Gradient map. I love how it turned out.
All babies are miracles, but the adopted miracles will always reach my heart in a different and more profound way. Having adopted three times after our own infertility battles, to watch others who have walked that path realize their dreams of parenthood makes me giddy. Especially this gorgeous newly formed family of three. Meet Ryan and his head-over-heels mommy and daddy:
I had the joy and pleasure of photographing two sweet baby girlies in the past few weeks. Being around babies cures my baby cravings while making me want just one more. I think I'll always want just one more...
Meet Sophie at six weeks:
And then here's Siena, the sweet three-week-old girlie of a friend of mine. The second miracle baby for this family. Makes me giddy.
I love those wrinkly, dainty hands.
She's perfect.
The whole family is quite smitten, actually. As am I. Many congrats, Kandra and Tom and big sister Kyra!
This lovely family of four is due to grow by one soon. And it's a boy this time! I've got tons more to get through from this session, but these three stood out as early faves.
This sweetie is the littlest big sister. Both girls are just darling, and mom and dad are so much fun. I had a blast with you guys! Thanks so much!

A few months ago I had my first commercial photo shoot. The JW Tumbles corporation were working on a new website and advertising campaign, and their media company hired me to create a stock of photos for their big project.
Well, they've launched their new website and it features almost exclusively the photos I took that day. I'm giddy with excitement (and just a wee bit of pride) over the results. Working with E-Factor media, the executive team at JW Tumbles and the very patient and energetic "trainers" at the location of our shoot was fun and rewarding and didn't really seem like work at all.
Woohoo!
There is something about these newborn photos that I do. I love the shadows and light, and how these teeny tinies are still so curly, like they're still inside. I love how each one of these shots I've taken, despite the similarities, are all so different.
I also love these unposed shots, too. Each of my newborn clients gets two different experiences during our shoot. The above types of shots, posed and artful, and the more photojournalistic and candid photos that capture life as it happens. I become more like a fly on the wall, buzzing around, letting the family just be.
As always, click on the photos to view larger and in all their singular glory.
